Future Hispanic History Honors Amara La Negra

September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and we’re kicking off our #FutureHispanicHistory celebration by honoring Amara La Negra. The Dominican American singer, actress, dancer, and author has broken down barriers by openly talking about her Afro-Latina heritage, prejudices within Latinx communities, and the impact it’s had on her in and out of the industry.

She has always used her voice and her platform to stand up for marginalized Black people, whether it’s on television, in the streets protesting against police brutality, or on social media telling her fans about the importance of voting. For always challenging us to confront our biases and provoking deeper conversations about real issues, Amara La Negra is Future Hispanic History.
